Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
A process of instruction, prayer, and fellowship which welcomes adults into full participation in the sacramental life of the Catholic Church.
RCIA was established to prepare those who have not been baptized, or those who have been baptized in other Christian traditions, for full reception into the Catholic Church. It is also intended for adults who have been baptized Catholic but have not received the initiation sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. The program has a two-fold purpose. The first is to learn how the Catholic Church combines Sacred Scripture, Church teachings, and Church traditions to form a rich environment that challenges each of us into a personal encounter with Jesus Christ. Secondly, each person is prepared for the reception of the Sacraments of Christian initiation: Baptism (if needed), Confirmation, and Eucharist.
Are you, or do you know someone interested in becoming Catholic? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a process by which the candidates enter into the Catholic community by learning the rich traditions of the Catholic Church faith through Foundation, Catechesis, Liturgy, and Evangelization. Through this program, candidates learn the fulness of the faith, while striving to obtain full reception into the Catholic Church through the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist). Additionally, for those Catholics that wish to learn more about the faith, or if have been away from the church for a while, this is an opportunity to broaden your knowledge and understanding while serving as a sponsor. Our sessions occur on Tuesdays from 6:30 pm-8:00 pm and the new program will commence on 9/5/2023. To apply for the program, or volunteer as a sponsor, please stop by the parish office, or obtain an application on the parish website. If you have any questions, please, or call the RCIA Director, Mark Larkin at 915-540-8213, or email him at markflarkin@yahoo.com. Additionally, you can call the Holy Family Church office at 254-547-3735.
If you would like to share your love for Christ, and your knowledge of the faith, please consider being a SPONSOR for the new candidates. The registration forms for the Sponsors are available in the office, or by contacting Mark Larkin at the above email and phone number.
